Already facing a long daily commute to her job at Heathrow Airport, this was just the incentive she needed to move again – this time to be closer to her growing family in Sandhurst and Farnborough. Drawn to the clean slate of a new build and the chance to assume more active babysitting duties, she purchased a home in Buckler’s Park.
Sonia has worked at Heathrow Airport in a senior customer service role for almost 40 years. As she explains, “If there’s one thing I know about, it’s good customer service, and from what I’ve seen Legal & General Homes is right up there.”
“If there’s one thing I know about, it’s good customer service, and from what I’ve seen Legal & General Homes is right up there.”
Everyone moving into a Legal & General Homes development has access to a handyman service to help with everyday tasks like hanging pictures, putting up shelves and all the other things that help make a house a home. This certainly proved useful for Sonia. “The handyman was a lifesaver – it’s an excellent idea. All I have to do is ask and he comes as soon as possible – I even left him a key once because I trust the team enough to just pop in.”
Sonia now lives in the Langley, a two-bedroom, two-story semi-detached home in the development’s first phase. Her priority was to create more time for her to enjoy life with her children and grandchildren. As she explains, “For me, a new house means a fresh start, and that’s exactly what a new build gives me. I decluttered so much when downsizing – none of the furniture came with me, only my garlic press, my photos and my wine rack! I didn’t even need a van to move. I’m not a big decorator so having a choice of colour options for the house was great – it meant I could just start living in it – and there’s just so little maintenance required on my end, inside and out.”
During the buying process, customers are invited to Meet the Builder sessions where they can ask questions about the construction and meet their new neighbours over breakfast. Initiatives like this lay the foundations for a strong and supportive Buckler’s Park community.
Sonia never thought that she would live in a big new development but finds that she likes it: “I like having people around me. It gives me a sense of community and support and means that I don’t feel alone.”
