There’s been a lot of excitement in the office and on site this week as Legal & General Homes has been shortlisted for two Better Society Awards in the Commitment to the Local Community and Built Environment categories.

Run by the Better Society Network, the Better Society awards celebrate the UK companies who are doing the most to create a better, more equal, ethical and more sustainable world for all.

Social value and sustainability are at the core of our business and, along with customer service and quality, underpin everything we do.

We’re dedicated to building places that connect with local communities and enhance the areas around them.  Our grant scheme – run at all our active sites and through which we give £2,000 to local charities chosen by residents and visitors each quarter – is just one of the ways we try to connect with and ultimately benefit surrounding communities.  When it comes to environmental benefits, people are often surprised that redeveloping rural areas can improve biodiversity, but that’s exactly what we’ve been doing.

If you want to learn more about the work we’re doing to benefit the local community and support a more sustainable future, come on down to one of our Visitors Centres to meet the team.

John Allan, Managing Director of Legal & General Homes
